Museum at Home

Explore Queensland Museum Network from home

Our doors at Museum of Tropical Queensland in Townsville may be closed as we undergo roof works but the museum is still accessible online including exhibitions, learning resources, videos, talks and more.

With amazing information, material and activities from across the entire museum network you can become #CouchCurators and explore this website to inspire curiosity, connect to the past, make sense of the present and help navigate the future.

Queensland Museum Network campuses in Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba are now open with changed entry conditions and we invite you to engage with us online prior to or after your visit.

There is so much to discover in the virtual world of Museum at Home!

Message from the CEO

Queensland Museum Network has temporarily closed its doors and our team of scientists and curators, like many, are working from home, have become #CouchCurators. Our museum is still here and ready to explore, but now instead of visiting us at one of our museums we have become a digital museum where visitors can still explore, engage and connect with us online.

Throughout this time while our doors are temporarily shut, we will be sharing some of the stories of the team at Queensland Museum Network, whether that’s a peek behind the scenes or a look at the work they are doing at home as Couch Curators.  The great thing about museums is that anybody can be a curator and we are asking all Queenslanders to join our curatorial team and become Couch Curators, by sharing your photos and videos and asking questions. This is your launching pad to Queensland Museum Network at Home and we look forward to exploring, connecting and researching with you during this time.

Dr Jim Thompson
CEO, Queensland Museum Network
